Tourist Attraction in Vitória: Parque Pedra da Cebola
Pedra da Cebola Park is located in the Brazilian municipality of Vitória, between the neighborhoods of Jardim da Penha and Mata da Praia, in the continental zone of the municipality (or northern zone), in the state of Espírito Santo. The park has 100,005 square meters and has a typical restinga vegetation. The origin of the name comes from a stone drawn by nature in the shape of a large onion. The stone is one of the symbols of the capixaba capital. The Municipal Park of Pedra da Cebola has a good structure to attend the public, there is a meditation house and an oriental garden, as well as a viewpoint on a large rock wall, used by climbers. It is also possible to visit the cultural space, with different programs throughout the year. It features a large flat area that hosts events and is also used for baseball and soccer. The space for football is reserved for Kids Football School. But before opening the gates of the park to the population, a name had to be given to it. What few people know is that "Onion Stone Park" is just a fancy name given because of the great stone whose effects of nature made it very similar to an onion located in the middle of the park. The official name is "Municipal Park Ítalo Batan Régis", in honor of a former president of the community of Santa Maria Island, who, although blind, was very active in the fight for the interests of the population of the neighborhood. It is not allowed to enter animals in the Park.
