Paço da Liberdade
Paco da Liberdade is a historic building located in the center of Curitiba, capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. The building is listed by the municipal heritage and by the Secretary of State for Culture of the Government of Paraná, in addition to the National Historic Heritage. Inaugurated in February of 1916, the current Praca Generoso Marques, the old town hall was built to be, the town hall headquarters. Designed by the mayor of Càndido Abreu, with the collaboration of the sculptor Roberto Lacombe. The town hall remained in the palace until 1969. Five years later, an agreement between the State and the municipality allowed it to become the headquarters of the Paranaense Museum until 2002. The building is one of the most important monuments of the city, with lines architectural fall eclecticism - mix of architectural trends of different eras of history and began to spread in Curitiba at the end of the nineteenth century with a predominance of Art Nouveau style, marked by elaborate decorations and curved or sinuous shapes, present in the iron gates of main entrance, in the marquise facing Praca Tiradentes and in the wooden frames. Decorating its interior, have been placed the doors of imbuia, a beautiful staircase and an elevator coming from Europe, the first of Curitiba. On the facade, statues, weapons and coat of arms of the municipality translate the political power of which it was soothing.
