Schloss Charlottenburg
The Castle of Charlottenburg is the biggest historic building in Berlin, after the second world war. Is located in the district of Charlottenburg. Initially, under the name of Lietzenburg name originating in the locality where it was built, the palace was built in the Baroque Style Italian by the architect Arnold Nering commissioned by Sophie Charlotte, the wife of Frederick III of Brandenburg.
After the coronation of Frederick in 1701 as King Frederick I of Prussia and Charlotte as queen, the palace, which was originally conceived as a summer residence near Berlin, was magnified by the architect Eosander Von Göthe in a beautiful building. After the death of the woman in 1705, Frederick called the palace and the surrounding area Charlottenburg in his memory. From 1709 to 1712 were added more buildings including the characteristics towers.
