Museo Nazionale Archeologico di Altamura
The National Archaeological Museum of Altamura is located near the historic center of the city of Altamura, in La Croce, an archaeological area of great importance, very rich in testimonies from the ancient Bronze Age to the advanced Hellenistic age. From December 2014 the museum is under management at the Puglia Museum Complex. Since 1997, an itinerary has been opened to the public entitled "The ancient population of the high Murgia", in which the whole history of man and his testimonies is developed from the Paleolithic period to the late Middle Ages. The museum itinerary is divided into four sections: prehistoric, archaic, Hellenistic, medieval. The exhibition "Prehistory of food" is open to the public in the room dedicated to temporary exhibitions. At the origins of bread ". Admission is free.
