Chiesa di Santa Maria del Torresino
The church of Santa Maria del Pianto, known more as the church of Santa Maria del Torresino or the Torresino church, is a religious building that solemnly closes the strà del Vanzo, now via Seminario in Padua. The current church, begun in 1718 according to the project of Gerolamo Frigimelica, replaces an older oratory built next to a "torresino", a tower of the old intermediate fortification then demolished, which bears the representation of the Virgin who performed some miracles around 1450. The building is one of the highest expressions of the eighteenth-century Venetian late Baroque. The church is a parish church belonging to the vicariate of the Cathedral.
