Tourist Attraction in Cortona:
Chiesa di San Cristoforo
The church of San Cristoforo is a sacred building located in the homonymous square in Cortona. It is a classroom, a small church with a trussed ceiling and a gabled façade. Founded in 1192, and, in 1575, due to a fire, it was renovated and modified, although the current appearance of the interior is due to the eighteenth-century remodeling. The altarpiece in the raised presbytery dates back to this period, for which the ancient frescoed apse was shortened and formed the sacristy. From here come the fourteenth-century frescoes of the Umbrian-Sienese school depicting the Crucifixion, the Annunciation, the Ascension and the high Christ blessing between two angels, now placed in the left wall. Next to the right side, under the Romanesque bell tower, the chapel of the Nativity of Mary was erected in the 16th century. Word processing: Giovambattista Spagnuolo (Myooni)
