Tourist Attraction in Lecce: Museo Provinciale delle tradizioni popolari "Abbazia di Cerrate"
The Provincial Museum of Popular Traditions "Abbazia di Cerrate" is an art museum in Lecce. The Museum is located in the rooms adjacent to the 13th century Abbey of Santa Maria di Cerrate, in the Casalabate area. The museum itinerary includes two sections. The first proposes sculptures and architectural fragments of the Apulian Romanesque, coming from the Abbey. The second section is dedicated to the objects, rural and craft traditions of the Salento area: the tools of peasant work, ceramics, terracotta and a series of papier-mâché statues. In some rooms the domestic spaces of the Salento council houses are perfectly reconstructed, including the fully equipped kitchen, the bedroom with its furnishings and the loom room where women wove precious fabrics. Of note is the presence of two mills and some tanks for the grinding of olives in their original position. Text processing: Giovambattista Spagnuolo (Myooni)
