Tourist Attraction in Pesaro:
Villino Ruggeri
The small villa Ruggeri, built between 1902 and 1907 on the design of the owner, the pharmaceutical industrialist Oreste Ruggeri, is a splendid example of Liberty in Italy. The main feature of the villa is its rich presence in the four external facings of decorations inspired by the marine world and the plant world. The position in front of the sea enhances it to the point that many visitors stop to admire it. Originally the cottage was all colored, so not green and white as it is today, with sparkling bronze doors depicting the owner's family members in low relief. The execution of the small building was entrusted to the architect from Urbino Giuseppe Brega, who specially designed its furnishings, decorations and external hangings. Everything in the cottage had to lead back to that typical taste, so popular in the Europe of the time, that made Gesamtkubstwerk its bulwark. Some villas, summer residences, built in the same period, in Art Nouveau style, with particular Moorish, are found in Salento, but do not have the refinement of the house of Oreste Ruggeri. Recently Laura-Ingrid Paolucci published a book that tells in depth the whole story from the construction to the present, but above all containing the photos of the interiors, unknown to most since the cottage is closed to the public.
