Monastero di Santa Barbara o Roussanou
The Holy Monastery of Roussanou, was founded for the first time in the 14th century. It took its name probably from the hermit monk who settled in that period. The main cathedral dates back to the end of the 16th century and after a few years it was decorated by the monk who lived at the monastery. Compared to other monasteries, Roussanou has a lower height, and makes it easier to access. The Monastery, became a convent in 1988, currently the nuns live in the monastery. Inside you can admire the paintings or rather murals of: of the Catholicon (1560), when the monk Arsenios was the abbot of the monastery. Text elaboration: Giovambattista Spagnuolo (Myooni)
