Tourist Attraction in Marciana Marina: Museo civico archeologico di Marciana
The archaeological museum of Marciana, on the island of Elba, was born in 1967 as a simple collection of finds from the prototype settlements of Monte Capanne. By ministerial decree of 23 November 1971 it was classified as a "minor museum". Subsequently, Antiquarium was enhanced with important archaeological collections of Paleolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age (Mount Jupiter, Masso dell'Aquila, Serraventosa), Etruscan (Monte Castello), Roman (Chiessi and Procchio), Medieval (Pedemonte and Montemarsale) and the 18th century (Procchio). Noteworthy are four bronze axes of Villanovian from a closet of the Valle di Gneccarina of Chiessi, found around 1930 during the construction of a coal; Interesting is the collection of winches, oilseeds and garums from the wreck of Chiessi, along with the materials found in the Procchio wreck dating to the end of the 2nd century. The Museum was completely renovated in 2002 by architect Maurizio Giachetti. Paleolithic, Neolithic Age, Bronze Age, Archaic Etruscan Age: Brass and Oxidian Instruments of Mount Arci (Procchio, San Piero in Campo), subappenninic pottery (Monte Giove, Masso dell'Aquila), four bronze axes (Chiessi) , archaic Etruscan ceramics and small bronze objects (Serraventosa, Mount Jupiter and Eagle Blossom). Room two Etruscan age: black painted pottery of the Atelier des Petites Estampilles, frame weights, bones of pork, combed grain, fragments of greek-italic amphorae (Monte Castello). Room three Medieval Age: archaic majolica production of Pisa (Pedemonte and Montemarsale), iron tools for the extraction of granodiorite (Cavoli). Room four Underwater Archeology: Wines of butterflies Dressel 1b of Tyrrhenian production (wreck A of Sant'Andrea); glass goblets and gold foil, board pots, ivory statuettes with Dionysus and Pan, Sulfur Blocks, Magnesia Usta, Remnants of Rock (Procchio wreck); garfs (Beltrán 2A and 2B), wine (Haltern 70), oil (Dressel 20) (wreck of Chiessi). Wreck of an eighteenth-century cargo ship with flint horseshoes, and Chinese porcelain plates.
